If you haven't heard of Jeremy Cowart, you have certainly seen his work. The Fotostrap team hasn't helped but to notice his passion for art and philanthropy, so it's no wonder he's paved his own path as a respected trailblazer in the industry. See why we admire this inspiring artist below:
Starting his career as a painter, he switched to photography in 2005 and hasn't looked back since! His portfolio now ranges from teaching and painting, to celebrity portraits and magazine spreads. He's had sessions with popular celebrities, such as Tim Tebow, Sting, Gwyneth Paltrow, Emma Stone, Courtney Cox, and Ryan Seacrest! His clients are also big names, the likes of ABC, Rolling Stone and the Discovery Channel to name a few.
Equally important, he helps to draw attention to the hardships of people in other countries, such as Uganda and Rwanda. His work on the "Voices of Haiti" photo essay is credited with helping raise awareness of the dire situation in Haiti after the devastating earthquake in 2010. Always looking for ways to use his camera for good, he founded Help-Portrait, in which a network of photographers donate photo shoots to those less fortunate.
Jeremy's blog includes photography tips, as well as updates on his travels and various projects. The one's we can't stop talking about are:
- Should Retouchers Get Equal Credit - This controversial subject is something we think all photographers have asked at one point or another.
- TED Talk - Need we say more about this amazing talk on how to give back with photography?
- Claire and Travis Wedding - Though Jeremy admits he doesn't generally shoot weddings, it's interesting to see his take on this important life event!
Jeremy is always working on a new humanitarian project, photo spread or traveling, so be sure to follow him on Twitter and Google+ for regular updates!
